OCULUS has implemented a DICOM interface for the Pentacam®. DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is a standard defining both a file format for storage of medical data and a communication protocol for information exchange in medical environment. The latest release of the Pentacam® software allows screen captures to be stored to EMR (Electrical Medical Record) software.
Moreover with an additional software for the OCULUS patient data management system, the Pentacam® is fully integrated into the DICOM environments. The patient data management system receives the information about patients and examinations using DICOM Modality Work List from the Hospital Information System (HIS) and forwards these to the Pentacam®. The measured examination data is transmitted to the Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) as image files. All DICOM Viewing Stations having access to the PACS can retrieve the stored data for the respective patient.
